Microsoft, Comcast, and ABC - media outlets merging?Recently listening to NPR, it seems that Microsoft might be positioning itself to gain more media control. Let us first start with the comcast bid to buy out Disney. Disney now has holdings in ABC and ESPN. In short, Comcast wants to buy out Disney. And recently, there is a shareholder's meeting that will obviously bring this up. So, for the sake of it, Comcast DOES buy Disney. Not only will that be good for Comcast (who has high-speed cable broadband - currently outselling DSL services such as Sprint), but there is another secret partner who hold stock in Comcast...yep, Microsoft. Currently, Microsoft has many ties in with NBC and it's affiliates. So, in the end, Microsoft might be poised to do some merging between Comcast, NBC, ABC, and their affiliates. If this happens, there will be an even greater shift to merge your TV with your computer. Will this happen? To me, it has all the elements... |
