MSNBC - Comcast proposes buying Disney Comcast makes agressive bid to buy DisneyThings could get ugly in a world of happy faces today. Comcast has made an agressive bid to buy out disney. Comcast, who is also part of AT&T broadband, wants to take over Disney's holding of it's theme park, ABC, and ESPN networks. This could prove to be a very interesting year if this purchase is made. But why? First, there have been some squabbles at disney lately. As the article states: "Disney is expected to release strong first quarter earnings later Wednesday. The entertainment giant has faced an aggressive campaign to oust Eisner waged by former board members Roy E. Disney and Stanley Gold." So, corporate shakeups are going to happen. But it was more internal than from the external. Now, Comcast seeks that vulnerability and wants to capitalize on it. So, the agressive bidding was inevitable by a big company. So, will this go through? Stay tuned... Off the subject, though...if time-warner high-speed has the road runner, what cartoon character will comcast use? |
